What is Organic Food?
| The word "organic" is used to describe food which has been grown
without the use of artificial fertilisers and pesticides. Organic food has been grown by
working with nature rather than against it, by recycling natural materials to maintain
soil fertility and encouraging natural methods of pest and disease control, rather than
relying on chemicals. Organic farming recognises that nature has been successful in sustaining life for millions of years so the basic principle of organic farming closely follows those in the natural world. |
